It starts with the candy and ends when the ball drops!

You know what I’m talking about don’t you? On October 31st it starts. We start raiding our kids Halloween bag searching for the “bite size” snickers and reeses cups. The only problem is that…..well, they are small. Even though we eat more of them it feels like we are only having a little because they are so small. The only problem is that  by the time we eat 5 or 6 of them, we could have just had the whole regular size candy bar. If your house is anything like my house, the kids get so much candy that it will last until

Thanksgiving, which brings up my next Holiday. Ahhhhh…..Thanksgiving! My favorite thing about Thanksgiving (other than giving thanks of course) is my grandma’s cornbread stuffing. I literally can eat massive amounts of the stuff. And then there is Christmas. The baking and cookie parties start way before Christmas even gets that close. Cookies , cakes, breads, and the list goes on and on.

Are you wondering what my point is yet? My point is this. People start slacking with their workouts as soon as Halloween gets here and they usually don’t recommit until New Years when the ball drops. Why is this? Well there are 3 “excuses” why. 1). We figure why workout when we are just going to eating so much through the holidays anyway. 2). We don’t have time because we are getting ready for the holidays. 3). We have to spend our money on gifts and not going to the gym.

I am going to repeat that these are excuses!!!!! I can not impress upon you enough how important it is during the holidays to continue with your workouts. Staying fit decreases your stress, increases your energy, and suppresses your appetite. And also when January rolls around you are already in your fit mode instead of having to face those 5 pounds you gained during the holiday season!

It’s not too late to start reversing the damage! Start before Santa comes this year! Don’t have your New Year’s resolution be to start your fitness program. Have your New Year’s resolution be to continue with your fitness program! You will be glad you did!
